How is plantar fasciitis treated?

Heel pain with painful first step is it planatar fasciitis?

Heel pain is an annoying, common problem that can be caused by a variety of conditions. One of the most common causes of heel pain is plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the plantar fascia – a thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot, connecting your heel bone to your toes.

Plantar fasciitis can cause a lot of discomfort, especially when you take your first step in the morning, or after sitting for a while.

So, how can you tell if your heel pain is caused by plantar fasciitis? To start, let’s look at the symptoms of plantar fasciitis. The most common symptom of plantar fasciitis is a sharp, stabbing pain in the heel or arch of the foot. This pain is usually worse when you take your first step in the morning or after sitting for a while. You may also feel a dull, aching pain throughout the day.

Other symptoms of plantar fasciitis can include swelling in the heel or arch, tenderness when you press on the heel or arch, and difficulty walking or standing for long periods of time.

If you have any of these symptoms and suspect you have plantar fasciitis, it is important to seek medical attention. At Therapyworks, we have successfully treated many patients with Plantar Fasciitis. We can perform an examination and image your foot to see if there’s inflammation and where. We can also observe your gait and conduct a gait assessment to look at where and how your foot bears weight. If your diagnosed with plantar fasciitis, we can recommend a number of treatments, including stretching exercises, wearing supportive shoes, taping your foot, taking anti-inflammatory medications, or wearing a night splint. We also have a treatment specifically for chronic tendon issues called shockwave therapy.

It’s important to note that plantar fasciitis is a condition that takes time to heal. If you don’t take steps to address the underlying cause of your heel pain, it may recur. Therefore, it’s important to follow your treatment plan and do the recommended exercises and treatments. With the right treatment at the right time, you can reduce your pain and get back to living an active and healthy lifestyle. Call us now on 01446 794166 to get specialist advice. ,
